The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), the nodel agency for promoting seafood export from India under the premier seafood promotion agency and industry, Government of India and the Sea Food Exporters Association of India are jointly hosting the 17th edition of the India International Seafood Show (IISS) - 2010 at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai from 19th to 21st February' 2010.
 
The 17th edition of this event is being redefined to be of a truly global scale and quality. IISS - 2010 promises to project the capability of the Indian Marine Seafood Industry for Value Addition and providing a strong foundation of business and partnership opportunities in the marine and seafood sector.
 
VALUE ADDITION being this edition's theme, IISS - 2010 has a tremendous scope for increasing the opportunities and introducing various technologies for the market and its products. The event has exhibitors from various seafood domains such as seafood value added products, packaging material suppliers, machinery suppliers, fish net manufacturers, fish feed manufacturers, aquaculture, additives, fishing equipments, electronic equipment manufacturers, cleaning equipments, edible ingredient suppliers, ECGC/Banks, fishery technologies and others.

The three-day show will be hosted in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. Gateway to South India, Chennai is located along the Coromandel Coast and is India's fourth largest metropolis today. Spread over an area of 200 square kilometers, Chennai has retained its traditional Tamil roots while acquiring a modern and cosmopolitan character.

Chennai famous for its sandy beaches, parks and historic landmarks. With a very distinct culture, the people of Chennai have a special interest in music, dance and all other art forms of South India.

It has an estimated population of 6.96 million (2006) and is a commercial and industrial hub. It is also known as the automobile capital of India and is home to majority of India's automoblies industry. The 12-Kilometer long Marina Beach in Chennai is one of the longest beaches in the world.

Of late, Chennai has grown into a software hub and technological city. It is a city, which has embraced both the new and the old with ease.
