MPEDA
The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) was constituted in 1972 under the Marine Products Export Development Authority Act 1972(No.13 of 1972). The role envisaged for the MPEDA under the statue is comprehensive - covering fisheries of all kinds, increasing exports, specifying standards, processing, marketing, extension and training in various aspects of the industry.
- Seafood exports from India during the year 2008 - 2009 reached to an all time high of US $1.98 billion.
- Above 100 countries in the world taste Indian seafood, EU being the major.
- MPEDA has now framed a vision plan aiming at an export of US $4 billion by 2012 and US $6 billion by 2015.

SEAI The Seafood Exporters Association of India was established in year 1973. This is an organisation registered under the Registrar of Companies Act 1956 with an aim to protect and promote the interest of seafood industry and also to safeguard and protect the interest of members of the industry by promoting cooperation. Almost 90% of the seafood exporters of India are members of this organisation.
